From 2007 to 2013
Homosexuality has increasingly appeared in Korea's mass media.
- After King's Wife, a homoerotic themed movie, sold a record-breaking ten million tickets and became a smash hit in 2005, numerous movies playing with different aspects of homosexuality were released and well-received by audience.
- TV drama productions have juggled more or less homosexual themes.
- Several musicals and theater plays of the relevant topic were very well-received by audiences as well.
The exposures on mass media have contributed to the public
to open up to the sensitive issues (with limits) and partially accept the existence of sexual minorities in Korea.
